3D fast track forward modelling

3d fast track forward modelling

The geo-electric response of a subsurface feature is influenced by its depth of burial, its dimensions, and its resistivity and that of its surrounding geology.

3D modelling correctly accounts for many of the approximations inherent in the 1D modelling process and gives a significantly more precise view of the likely response of the subsurface. Its use is appropriate where the lateral extent of the prospect is going to have a significant effect upon the electric field measured at the seafloor.

This proprietary OHM software is designed to provide a rapid, cost effective solution for predicting the 3D response of a subsurface feature. In order to reduce computing cycles and arrive at a rapid solution, the software analyses response for a 3 dimensional body in a 1 dimensional background.

This approximation is valid in all but the most complex geologies. In such complex cases, or where absolute accuracy of the 3D response is imperative, OHM3D_Advanced should be used.

The software runs under Linux on a single processor workstation or on a parallel cluster. Run times are dependant on the model size and are of the order of minutes to hours.
