3D inversion
OHM’s routine 2.5D inversions can be extended to a full 3D inversion of data to produce a volume of the subsurface. A Full 3D inversion also produces the most accurate results for the resistivity of subsurface features.
3D inversion can be extremely computer intensive and a large inversion volume can take several months to run on a large cluster.
OHM has a number of 3D inversion modules, and the exact choice of the module to be used will be driven by a trade off between cost and accuracy, and the quality of the phase information in the input data.
Price for 3D inversion is extremely data, routine and parameter sensitive and 3D inversions are often most cost effectively started from 2.5D solutions from within the 3D volume.
