The Role:
The principal objective of this job is to support research and development activities of OHM by assisting in the development of a comprehensive software suite for future operations.
Responsibilities:
- Writing a well documented and maintainable code
- Following test protocols and reporting results
- Training other users in the use of software
- Other duties and tasks as are within the scope, purpose, and grade of the job, as may be determined from time to time by the Chief Scientist.
Person specification:
Experience of:
- Object orientated language such as Java, C#, C++ or Python - essential
- Working in, and development for, a UNIX/Linux environment – highly advantageous
- Writing GUI applications – highly advantageous
- SQL databases or the Python programming language – highly advantageous
- Experience in Fortran – highly desirable
- Experience in MPI – highly desirable
Qualifications:
- An honours degree in either Software Engineering or Computer Science from a UK university OR the equivalent from an overseas university
- Some previous work experience in a relevant industry and role would be a bonus, however it is not an essential requirement for this post
Salary:
Excellent, annually reviewed remuneration package, including performance related incentive.
