The Role:
- To create an efficient and sustainable software development function within the OHM group by building and managing a development team capable of generating and supporting software tools for the production groups.
- To improve the delivery of services to customers by codifying business processes and workflows.
- To build a library of intellectual property and proprietary systems and workflows to support the OHM groups goals.
- Defining standards for deliverables by documenting system requirements, UI standards, performance parameters and acceptable system architectures.
- Defining development team workflow from design, project management, through to release of new software and workflows.
- Establishing a unified software management and tracking system for all development and enhancements to software and workflows within the OHM group.
- Establishing a quality assurance plan including test plans and procedures.
- Managing the technology transfer of newly developed products to production groups, including ensuring appropriate documentation and training procedures are in place.
- Liaise with production groups and sales and marketing organisations and put in place processes to capture feedback from end users and incorporate this in development plans.
- Managing the development personnel within the OHM group, setting goals, and determining appropriate training and skills enhancement programs.
Person specification:
Experience of:
- Management of software/workflow development projects is essential
- Working with linux/fortran/matlab and C++
- Object oriented design and development of software
- Proven track record of developing and rolling out novel software to users
- Oil and gas survey industry experience desirable.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject from a UK university OR the equivalent from an overseas university OR experience in-lieu OR a combination of a lower-level qualification and experience in-lieu.
- In-service education appropriate to the holder’s experience.
