Chief Scientific Officer

Location:

Aberdeen

The Role:

OHM provides services that include acquisition, processing and interpretation of CSEM (Controlled Source Electromagnetic) data for the global Offshore Oil and Gas industry. CSEM is becoming a prime tool for de-risking high cost offshore drilling operations.

OHM is one of very few companies with commercial CSEM capability and leads the scientific advance of the technique.

Central part of the CSEM acquisition system is the tri code state transmitter and ultra sensitive ocean bottom receivers.

Although the current systems are productive, there is a requirement for a solid Analogue Electronics Design Engineer to drive research into new sensing and acquisition equipment. Primarily the candidate employed will be responsible for the research and design of an advanced next generation sensor and acquisition system. This new position will work with our partners and consultants in a collaborative environment to lever, enhance and contribute to this new programme.

They might be in a full time position working in sensor development and/or in research/design of new generation instrumentation for a progressive Company.

Areas of expertise need to be:

  • Ultra low noise, low voltage instrumentation acquisition systems, including signal conditioning, pre-amplifiers, analogue to digital converters and logging systems. This should also include theoretical and practical understanding of analogue filter design, chopper circuits, system transfer functions. Understanding of impedance, dc offset and parasitic effects in ultra low voltage/noise instrumentation systems and their interactions.
  • Any experience in electric field sensor design is an advantage.
  • High power low frequency electro magnetic transmitters switch design an advantage..
